A wife's rights!

Read this bit of "Weird News" yesterday on Yahoo:

Boy Marries Dog

It happened somewhere in Orissa.
The boy is not yet 2 years old, and he was married to a neighbor's dog! Weird indeed. But there was also something very ironic...
The boy's wife's name is Jyothi. She was allowed to roam around in the streets after the wedding. No dowry was exchanged.

Now if only this was true of real wives. So many dowry deaths could have been avoided, so many women would be free to do what they want, wear what they like, meet who they want. The dog wife seems to have more rights :)

Hehe :) I guess I can draw parallels and conclusions and make mountains out of the weirdest of molehills!

dowry is one of the biggest social menaces... and yeah, my wifi will be able to roam around, wear what she like, meet who she wants,do what she wants... :-D (after all, her happiness is my happiness)

most of the time, i am the first to see your post:)
getting a freedom to do what you want and wear what u like etc is fine, but it must come with a responsibility and to a sensible head, otherwise , u must have heard of....give him a long rope and he will hang himself:)

funny and pathetic at same time... I just can't get how a person can burn another for money ...and even worse when that person is his partner with whom he shares the bed...

Dude, truth is stranger than the fiction.

Huh?! Why would anyone marry a dog? Or bitch? Or any other animal? And why would someone marry their 2-yr old son?

I'm sure this news is fabricated.

I guess this is one of those rituals to be done to ward off some evil.

This is like when some guys are married to a tree! That is for some reason that the guy's first wife will die or something, so to prevent that!

Crazy astrology!

PS: New here, nice blog... and loads of talking. I love talking blogs! Came here from Chandini's

@xh, oh of course, your wife will have a very happy life with you, I have noooo doubts about that!

@renuDi, that is SO true! Freedom must never be misused!

@sourish, am not surprised at all, that thats the only thing you came up with about what they "share". You know that is not even the most important thing?

@chirag, I guess so...after all fiction finds inspiration in truth!

@d, It doesn't seem fabricated. Did you follow the link?

@athira, a very warm welcome to you :) Yeah, I do talk a lot, which some times gets very close to blabbering!

@IHM, yeah, we are, in the smallest, remotest regions of the country, yes, we are!

@ria, I wouldn't call them stupid, I would just say they are ignorant. No?

I know...but am just acknowledging the fact that you have that plus which is allowing you to freely think this way....dont know how but that can itself be a help to many who are "suffering"

As to why the boy was married, did you follow the link?

That news article seems funny! But the parallel you constructed disturbs! If only!!!

It doesn't mean that this demeans women!!! In a country like us, people go to any extent! in the name of rituals and religions...

Blog hopping and landed here!!

Nice thought!!!

Seriously weird..

You find this weird? Happens almost daily in India. Even Aishwarya married a pot before getting married to Abhishek to ward off evils...

But kudos to your imagination btw, I instead was thinking, doesn't really make much of a difference. We don't remain men after marraige anyways :D
