Da tomatoes...

These are technically my hubby's since he takes care of them like little babies. I just eat :)
The cherry tomatoes are growing wild now. We got 2 kgs in a single day!
Tomorrow is another harvesting day, I think it will be more than 2 kgs!

This is an average sized one...

"Mommy and babies" is what a friend said when she saw this one...

@deeply, yeah, we make salad everyday. What's a caprese salad though?

@my space, no, not a tomato plant, its a tomato jungle! Its gotten that dense now! We usually give them away to our neighbors, and eat the rest. Would be interesting to freeze some chutney. Can u tell me how to make it?

@cg, :D

@ella, bass tu apni jeejs ki tareef karti reh ;) The yellow ones are the sweetest! The smaller the better.

caprese salad is tomato and mozarella salad. You can either take small red tomatoes whole and mix it with fresh mozarella rounds. Or else, slice the tomato and the fresh mozarella cheese and arrange them on a plate in an alternating manner. In a bowl put olive oil, chopped fresh basil leaves, salt and pepper. Mix it well and pour over the tomato mozarella. It's yum. And well you can even make bruschettas with tomatoes.

Di, Ankur has a ques for you...come n answer wouldja ?

Oooh lovely fruits. mehnat na phal meetha :D and I'm sure so are those tomatoes.

Btw, what's the trick to not let the heavy branches and fruits fall on/touch the ground? When do you tie them to a support or put them in a cage?

Does the plant grow from a stem or it needs roots/seeds to grow from?

@xh, wish I could claim it as fruits of my labor. I just help, hubby does all the hard work (and hard work it is!) I do some stealing though :) You see the green things the plants are tied to the stakes with? I steal them every year from the grocery store!

@ankur, hoga kisi din phir se big space. 2 kgs...we gave some away, we ate some, we still have the rest. Kal aur nikale, 1 kg, and that was only from one section!

@Ella, vrij ko bolo na to answer my q. I answered Ankur's just now.

@D, hai na :) The littlest tomato so far is smaller than the nail on my little finger!

aneri_masi said...

@veens, I am freaking lucky that my hubby grows them for me!

@deeplydip, I make a similar salad... with tomatoes, small green chilli, coriander, shallots, salt and pepper. We're not very fond of cheese, so will probably leave that out. The bruschetta is an excellent idea! Thanks!

@kanan, oh yes, they are very sweet.
We tie them to stakes. We get 6 ft tall stakes from Home depot, and tie them up before they get too big. And my husband prunes them pretty much every other day. Removes the leaves at the bottom of the plant, so there is some breathing room for them.
