Random thoughts

I think I am suffering from Writers' block right now (if I may allow myself to be called a "writer" in the first place!)

My mundane life which I sometimes present like a three-ring circus is still just as mundane as ever. The words to embellish it and make it sound fun are lost somewhere.

I can't even remember what I did this weekend. I'm gonna try and remember some random things I did.

- I saw that squirrel again, with a HUGE orange in its mouth. It was running on the top of the wooden fence. All I could think was, how on earth is he able to see! The orange was at least 3 times the size of his head!

- I saw movies, lots of movies - Princess Diaries, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Along Came Polly on TV, and Harold and Kumar Escape Guantanamo Bay in the theater. I really enjoyed the Indiana Jones one and the Harold/Kumar one. Hilarious!

- We had a lot of fun trimming down a tree...and plucking oranges.
We got three bags of oranges, which hubby put by the living room door. One of the oranges escaped the bag it was put in and rolled into the living room to watch TV :)

(Sorry, guys, if this doesn't make any sense, just move on)

- Am reading "The Hindi-Bindi Club" by Monica Pradhan. It is a very well written book (language wise) and I am actually able to identify with the content in it too!

And now I am wondering why anyone would want to spend 2 minutes reading my list!

I do have a lot of thoughts in my head, but all of them are so serious. Am in no mood of getting any "gyaan" from anyone, so in no mood to impart any either.

Oh well, I hope the funny bone returns soon!

Here's a question...

We were returning from the theater last night, at around 12:30. There's a church on the way, and the car in front of us turned to go to the church parking lot. I was surprised, and asked hubby,

M(e): Did they really go to the church?
H(im): yeah, you wanna go?
M: No, I wouldn't know what to do there...church, temple, mosque, i wouldn't know what to do there.
H: bhajan gaao.
M: I don't know, I mean, aren't you supposed to have a lot of faith and feeling and all that in your song. Now if I go in there and sing a bhajan, I would probably have the same feeling as singing some Govinda gaana. Wouldn't it sound all the same to God?
H: Sure, go sing Govinda gaana.

And we prattled on some more...can't remember about what.

So the question to the "faithful" ones is, would God get mad at me if I went and sang something stupid. When I do go to the temple, I look at the idol, say, hey, wassup, and get going. Now if I add a little song and dance routine to that, like trying to entertain him, would he like it? I know, the folks around me would want to throw me out, but wouldn't God like some entertainment too?

I hope I am not offending anyone, just pouring out my random thoughts :D

I have a perfectly opposite viewpoint.. why would God want to see you and me do a song and dance routine? Would it not be better if a professional does that for him? I mean, whom would he prefer, Aishwarya Rai or you n me?

God knows what happening otherwise too :) he is a part of you and you are a part of him always :)

Going to temples, Churchs, etc etc is just a part of the superficial activity that we humans have come up with to draw a line between ourselves !!!

U know what? Makes sense, ur question...I think it's totally OK to have ur own way of showin ur faith to God...If u wanna dance and let him judge, do so...Cuz have u heard of those utlra-silly people who sing 'Devotional' songs to the tunes of bollywood govinda myushic? Now THAT is torture..Im sure God would prefer the original sound track anyday!

And that squirrel...U sure it's the same one everywherE? :D

@vrij, nah, I don't think god would discriminate like that.

@ankur, tumko reader's block bhi ho gaya hai kya? maine kab kahaa squirrel ne tv dekha?

I think my question was misunderstood. I was wondering whether God would like some entertainment or not :)

And I am not feeding the squirrels. No way! They steal my fruits, apni mehnat ki khaate hain woh!

@om, yeah, I guess he gets entertained when I dance and be silly in my own home too :D

@preeti, oh yeah, i completely forgot about those "remixed" bhajans!
And the squirrel, yeah, its the same one, it comes everyday :)

Preeti said...

Haha, remixed bhajans..Yea that's what they r...Sheer torture to the lil bhakt in me!

You know how Aamir and his team won the cricket match in the movie Lagaan only when his mom sang a bhajan the previous night right? Try it. Maybe your wishes will come true.

aneri_masi said...

@preeti, LOL!

@sol, double LOL :)
Bhajan-singing will not help with anything, ROFL :) Anyway, all my wishes are coming true by just working towards it.

He he dont worry u havnt asked anything wrong. I hav a very friendly relationship wth god for tht matter. I thank him like a friend when gud things happen! and fight like a child when things go wrong...so i guess he wudnt mind a song and a dance routine! ;)

aneri_masi said...

@sourish, thanks :) Now I know why someone will take 2 minutes to read my list :)
God se main zyaada crib nahi karti, bechare waise hi din bhar dikh bhari stories sunte hain, thats I wanted to provide a bit of a break to him.

I don't mind if the squirrel takes the oranges, I have lots of them, but yaar, cherry, sniff-sniff, ek hi thi, and that too the first one ever on that tree!

@ankur, Totally sorry! Mere dimaag mein block pad gaya hai! Santra was watching "Along Came Polly". Sorry, sorry, so sorry!

Neeku said...

you kidding me Aneri, Bhajans are like cookie treat to Krishna..or lets even say Allah! Remember the kite runner movie/book..

When he looses the child after the climax ... .he runs everywhere... and then finally resigns and does namaz ... and lo... the boy appears... just like solitaire said about the movie lagaan too...

And the most sincerest prayer is the sweetest cookie you offer ! and in return... Bhagwanjee says Thank you and turns everything bitter in your life... just sweet sweet... sugar sweet :) Just like Jalebee :D

So your Hubby is right ... go ahead and sing bhajan in Church... ..thats what i do..

Temple, mosque, church.. i sing
"Oh Eshwar bhaijeye tana,
Moto che tuj naam,
Gunn taara neet gayiye
Thai hamara kaam,
Het lavi hasavatu,
Saada raakh vishwas,
Bhul kadi kariye hame..
To prabhu karjo Maff"

Now do you Remember that good old Ba's Prayer .. .she taught you ?!

well... thts the reason u been not regulr for last few day....hmm about god... fauj me we have a single roo with a centre table and fou entrances ...and table pe har direction pe there are 4 major religions ka foto... you stand there in ur uniform everymoring... the 4religious teachers ...( a JCO ) reads the prayers... simlutaneoulsy..and you march out ot begin the day..no prashad..no bells no nothing...just pure brotherhood.... i like it that way...

aneri_masi said...

@neeku...so you're saying I should only sing God's praise in bhajans and not do my song and dance, which probably has no praise for him?

I am not religious at all. So I don't know any prayers, my grandmas also didn't teach me.

@samby, roz to likhti hoon kuch na kuch yahaan par. Nice rule you army folks have. You in Belgaum, ke waapis aa gaye?

aneri_masi said...

@neeku, btw, by "Govinda gaana" I didn't mean Krishna bhajan.

I meant Govinda, apna Bollywood Govinda..."madhuri dixit mili raste mein, khaaye chane humne saste mein" waala gaana!

n anywez..god has his own way of rwarding us for good things n teaching us a lesson when we do sumthing wrong...he donest explicitly say it to us...
so i guess...its all how u perceive it.

aneri_masi said...

@sunshine, yeah, I like that term :)

@ria, finally someone understood my question :)

@sam, finally someone understood the intent behind the content :)

@pavi, nah, aint gonna try it. Coz I know i'll get thrown out. My question was not about getting rewards or punishment. It was more along the lines of, poor god needs a break, lets entertain him.
