Dreams...

Dreams are supposed to be nice, right? Like when you say, "dream sequence" its always so nice and beautiful and mushy. Why then, are my dreams always so action-packed?

I don't remember having one single peaceful dream to date. Romantic, beautiful, idyllic...is a far cry from what I see. I see Osama, ghosts, accidents, death, fights, animals...always very disturbing dreams! I have so often woken up in bitter tears.

And some dreams like this last one from yesterday, I have "seen" more than once. So this one is completely wacky.

So we have this huge backyard, right? For some reason in my dream it was full of animals! All kinds! Bears, cats, zebras, giraffes. And the way I find out about them (in my dream) is I hear stomping of hooves, as if all these animals are running (ever seen the wildebeest migration in Africa? Like that!) towards my yard. Sometimes they run through the house and back out in the yard, like ghosts, you know? Through walls and furniture and people? They reach the yard, and then slow down, and then they are just milling around (hubby says he had invited them to a jungle party. whatever...)

I never go out to the yard though, just watch from the window. Once I think I had called the animal control people to take them away. Eventually, they go away one by one, as if leaving a party.

In yesterday's version, after the "party" was over, the doorbell rang, and I kind of saw a lion standing at the door. (Civilized lions ring doorbells, I suppose!) I was in my room, and couldn't get up because of the bad knee. So I just saw him at the door. Not sure how he got in the house, but he did, and came straight to my room. And then I saw that its a big, cuddly dog, not a lion at all! He's cute, but so sad, and climbed into the bed and tried to cuddle up to me, hit my knee in the process and what not. I petted him for some time and he calmed down. So he went in the yard (why oh why do they all want to go into my yard!). He found a ball there that he was playing with when I woke up.

The dream makes NO sense at all. But then can someone explain why my knee was hurting exactly where the dog was supposed to have jumped on it?

HA HA HA LOL...ROFL.. such a brilliant post to read at 3:30 am in the morning before I sleep :) ..awesome claps and claps and claps :D :))

I think I love your dream. I might be selfish BUT I really hope and wish u get more such dreams and I get to hear them. I am confident I can come up with some explanation with the knee ..

My trial take -

U'r knee was aching before you slept..so u had the feeling of pain and disgust.. am not sure but may be u don't like animals and u saw jumanji (if u have seen the movie) so in your dreamland all the dislikes get combined and they attack the soul of your knee in the form of a lion..but then may be u like soft toys or dog :) .. so u get to see it hugging and cuddling ...and in the process since the knee gets ignored..it makes the dog kick it for you to realize that it exists and u r just dreaming ...

ok so this was my total bakwaas :) let me know if it made relatively less non-sense :)

please start a dream section for me :) I will buy u frogs :) :P

My cousin used to have these nightmares about everyone in her family dieing or being killed off. An astrologer suggested she wear a blue saphire and it worked for her: the nightmares stopped. I don't know if it's a feasible idea for you. But don't do it without consulting an astrologer.

crazy, really. You know my uncle always tells us that he sees a dream wherein he's cutting a tree and invariably the tree comes and falls on his leg. He wakes up in shock to find my aunt's leg resting on his :)

So maybe that's the reason...

You know the dream that seems hours long is only a few seconds long? You knee was hurting and so you dreamt all the rest of it surrounding the pain. I often dream that that my arm is hurt with something when I have slept over it or over a piece of bone brought on the bed by one of our dogs!

Dreaming of friendly, cuddly animals might be a way of telling you they are harmless and lovable. And they need your help (and everyone else's) to live and to keep this planet livable :)
Osama's ghost has to be a result of all the News that affects us!! I dreamt of terrorists right outside our house, after watching baby Moshe's parents being killed in Mumbai terror attacks. In this nightmare my kids are both around two (they are 16 and almost 18 in real)... and still I am yelling and asking them to lock their bed room doors ...
Sometimes dreams are just our thoughts, sometimes they are our fears but when we are lucky we might find little guiding messages in them!

@xh, do you mean to say HE hit ME and not the other way round? LOL.
Nope on both counts, he wasn't here, and we don't have bed posts!

@Rakesh, ROFL :) That's hilarious!

@IHM, yes, I can kind of relate to everything that happened...in some way or other...I think I see all these animals in the yard because one day my husband did find a neighbor's lost dog sitting in the backyard looking really scared and sad. And osama was during the 911 days...

@Prashant, yeah, when I remember, I can remember it quite clearly.

omg!u wont believe from the past few days i hav been getting weird dreams. I did try to read up on dream analysis, but i guess i'll just leave it at that one.

aneri_masi said...

@Ria, I guess we are all quite disturbed at this point in time :(

I also dream of horrible things most of the time!!..luckily I never remember the details of my dream after waking up.
I guess deep down we are disturbed people :p I read somewhere that people who have a generally nice and controlled life fear loosing it..at the sub-conscious level at least..and that might be the reason of getting scary dreams regularly.

I sympathize and relate to your dreams. Never have I had a nice dream, like you said, often times I have woken up crying in real or crying in dream (moaning). No idea about the animals dream but it sounded very similar to what happens in Jumanji. Your favorite film?

What I have observed is dreams have a lot to do with what we think during the day and what we eat and how we sleep at night (like sleep with a hand on your chest and you're guaranteed a freaky dream). To avoid getting dreams daily I say prayers before falling asleep or read something with good, positive thoughts and it helps me. I even tried putting keys under my pillow but it doesn't help much.

Ever tried changing the angle of your bed? I moved the bed to have my pillow in either East, North or North-East direction and believe it or not, I feel it has helped.

@veens, am so glad you are amused. that was the whole point :)

@kanan, I haven't even seen Jumanji!
What's the keys for? Never heard of that before.

Actually, it doesn't bother me that I have these strange dreams. It provides a lot of entertainment in the waking hours :)
