The one with lots of why's...

Why is negativity more powerful than positivity?
Why does a sneer have the power to wipe off a smile?
Why does a cold shoulder have the power freeze a warm embrace?
Why does fear win over faith?
Why does ego win over love?
Why is it easier to destroy than it is to build?
Why is suspicion more instinctive than trust?

Is this natural or conditioned?
I think it is a mix of both...sigh...

Not conditioning surely. What it could be then, I have no idea.

I TOTALLY agree..recently someone tried pointin out a negative aspect of mine (details over mail)Funny part is i totally totally understood what he was sayin cuz i juz knw what he was sayin was all rite....tho ofcourse i was in denial for a bit...then i plunged into the "shit im such a bad person" mode...and he was like - listen, there r a million more positives abt u which ppl like, but im just pointin this out so u can do somethin abt it...

Somehow the negative always manages to overshadow the postiive...like at dolly's weddin...so many people told me i looked nice and it made me happy...but some lady came and said - cudnt u have worn a saree itself rather than this ghagra thing? and that;s ALL i remember from her weddin!

I dont know what to do...but i guess it takes a HUGE effort to look beyond the negative...n i guess i have to try to get there!

Sorry for the long...no HUGE comment!

Cant say, may be its natural like all bad things are very tempting:)
hey...now.a.days in evry post u r making me think:), will have to think about it oto find some logic.

I am said...

hmmmmm

I might sound irrational but I have realized that ALL the WHY'S just appear to win because of our inherent impatient nature :)

aeri_masi It isn't always like this, o else the world will stop ... living.
Despite everything we Positivity remains powerful or else we won't fight cancer or spend millions to make our parents live another year;
sometimes sneers do win, but eventually it's the smiles that we all want, wish for or desire;
A frozen embrace warms can warm up again often with just an apology;
Does fear win over faith!? I think and hope... faith always wins ....;
Ego and hate are sometimes love inside out;
Destruction isn't as easy either, and rarely complete, mostly it is built upon again... sooner or later;
Ha! if suspicion was a little more powerful maybe we'd be a safer people! Humans and even animals are so quick to trust!!!

Ignore this comment aneri_masi, I am just an eternal optimist, I won't be able to smile again if I believed the world was more negative than positive, or maybe I would get used to even that ... but why take a chance so I keep looking for a silver lining....
sigh...- IHM

Why? :)

Too bad a word at times, but then helps us introspect and take the right decision...

I would say, ask a why for the same question at-least 5 times and you will know the answer...

Its easier to destruct than construct. Sadly, that's the law of nature. I think sometimes nature does not balance it.

@D, I feel some of it is conditioning. A baby is not born with as much mistrust as we have as adults...

@Preeti, aunty ko bolna tha, na, aunty, dance karte karte saari nikal jaati tow ;-) But yes, I do know what you mean :)

aneri_masi said...

@sourish, that sounds correct, now please translate what you just said for us laymen :D

@RenuDi, yeah, some is natural, like bad things being tempting, and some are conditioned, like not trusting people as much as we should.

@tanu, sahi baat hai! Absolutely true!!! Impatience nahi hoti to things that take 5 hours would have the same allure as things that can be done in 5 minutes. Instant gratification has a high of its own!

@xh, but WHY is all this easy and not the other way round? You just made my list of WHY's longer :D

@anjuli, but why?

@hitch, why why, kyu kyu?

@IHM, thanks for such a nice response! It helped dispel all my whys! Big hug to you!

@prashant, itni saari baar same question? my mind wanders so much and so fast that it doesn't remember what it was thinking 2 minutes ago :)

@ria, and what answers did you get?

@mia, check out IHM's response to me. It will help your muddled mind just like it helped mine!

@chirag, true, I guess nature is trying to teach us patience.

Interesting....

I attended a seminar this week and can try and add smg...

The reason is not the WHY but it is US....

as humans we have this knack of BEING RIGHT always....so what we do is make stories....something like if I do this they will not like it....(without verifying)...or if I go there they will think that I am smg smg...(again an assumption)

so with everything we do this and then as we want to be RIGHT we try to make sure we find all the reasons in the world to make those assumption look REAL....

so instead of asking so many WHYS to seek answers WHY NOT SIMPLY START TO THINK DIFFERENLY that is positively and share rather than assume....

aneri_masi said...

@ceedy, so you are saying its natural, we ARE like that, and we need to be conditioned to not be like that? :)

ceedy said...

If I say anything here I will be trying to prove my self right...and that is not what I want to do...

Its just that we try to fight our natural BEING instead of accepting it and trying to see alternatives
